Carlyne Francis Jenkins Vickery, 71, was born at home on July 24, 1936, in Hico, Texas. She attended first grade in Johnson City and the remainder of her schooling was in Lampasas. She graduated from Lampasas High School in 1954. She attended T. U. for one year. After moving to SΩan Antonio in 1955, she was a secretary for DPS. During her tenure at DPS, she met State Tr

ooper Royce B. Vickery. They were married March 14, 1959, at Beacon Hill Church of Christ in San Antonio. They lived in San Antonio until 1978 when they moved into their dream home in Dale, Texas. She served as secretary in Lockhart for many offices including the Caldwell County Tax Office until she retired to be a full time homemaker.
Carlyne had three great loves. First was her love for God. Her second love was Royce. On their second date, she had made arrangements to take him by the church house to talk to the preacher, Frank Dunn, who later married them. She encouraged him and led him to follow Christ also. She loved her children. Carlyne was a giving and caring person. She cared for both of her parents, extended family members and even took troubled teens into her home. She loved Siamese cats.
She passed away on Saturday, April 26, 2008, after battling Alzheimer’s Disease for nine years.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Ross and Neva Jenkins; and her grandson Scotty Dunkeson.
She is survived by her husband of 49 years, Royce Vickery; two daughters, Brenda Marsh, and husband Jason, and their children, Andrew and Joshua, and Linda Lynn Dunkeson and husband, Richard, and their daughter, Rachelle; and two brothers, Willard Jenkins and wife, Carol, of Sherman Oaks, Calif., and Bob Jenkins and wife, Jan, of Fort Worth.
