Cassie Mae Sauers, 96, of Lockhart, passed away Friday, July 10, 2015  at Chisolm Trail Nursing and Rehab Center.  She was born July 16, 1918, in Long Mott, Texas, in Calhoun County to the late James Alfred Stark and Margaret Cassie Stark.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Willie Arthur “Ben” Sauers; her four brothers: Lewis Clay Sta

rk, Willie R. Stark, Ernest Alvin Stark and Lowell Marsh Stark; three sisters: Grace Rosina Ezzell, Dorothy Lorena Bevis and Ruby Lee Stark; her children: Gilbert Neil Key and Baby Key; and step-children: Marilyn L. Shriver, Donald L. “Buddy” Sauers and Lionel R. “Lonnie” Sauers.

Surviving are her sister-in-law, Flo Sauers, of Victoria; nephew, Lowell “Buddy” Ezzell, of Utopia, Texas; nieces, Norma Gage (Albert), of Fredericksburg, and Kathy Whitney (Paul), of Victoria; grandchildren: Joanne Tomblin (Randal), of Germantown, Karen Gates, of Austin, John D. Shriver (Donna), of Deer Park, Texas, Melinda Sauers Bagby, of Sugar Land, Kimberley Sauers Newhouse (Michael), of Montgomery, Texas, and Dawn Sauers (Randall Hicks) of Corpus Christi; 18 great-grandchildren and 13 great-great-grandchildren.

A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 18, 2015 at 2 p.m. at Memory Gardens Cemetery in Victoria.  Mrs. Sauers’ grandson,  Michael Newhouse, of  Grace Crossing Church of Christ in Conroe, TX will officiate.  In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Lockhart Church of Christ, 317 S. Blanco St., Lockhart, Texas, 78644.

    Mrs. Tomblin your family is in our prayers. We loved Cassie, her enthusiasm for life, and her compassion for others was amazing. She will be missed. Our deepest condolences. Sincerely, Longhorn Hearing.
