Charles “Red” Sowell, 73, of Lockhart, passed away on Monday, Jan. 26, 2009, in Lockhart. He was born on Dec. 29, 1935, in Sweetwater, Texas, to Franklin and Gladys (Smith) Sowell.

He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Elna Lackie.

Mr. Sowell is survived by his wife of 48 years, Betty Sowell, of Lockhart; sons, Franklin Sowell, of Midland,

and Timothy Sowell, of Austin; daughter, Debbie Alexander, of Cattle Mill; sisters, Elizabeth Jimmerson and Rosie Nipps, of Austin, Dean Teague, of Longview, and Rossie Layman, of San Antonio; and six grandchildren.

Services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 28, 2009, in the McCurdy Memorial Chapel in Lockhart, Texas with Rev. Genevive Ormand officiating.
