Cora Bettge, 93, of Lockhart, passed away Feb. 12, 2010. She was born in Carrizo Springs, Texas, to Wade Hampton and Eula McMains Shaw on Oct. 5, 1916.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband of 62 years, George Bettge; her brother, Wade; and sisters Gussie Kingsley and Elizabeth Weldon.

She is survived by her daughters, Barbara Huskey and Carol

Bettge; her son, Wayne Bettge; five grandchildren and spouses; five great-grandchildren; brother, Milton Shaw; and sister, Mildred Fredericksen.

Cora hand-tinted photos for Harry Annas and worked for the Chamber of Commerce, County Clerk”s office and the American Red Cross. She was a volunteer at the Mountain High Adult Head Injury Encampment in Red River, N.M. Cora was an accomplished artist, loved to travel and to play bridge.

A celebration of Cora”s life for family and friends will be held on Saturday Feb. 20, 2010, at 2 p.m. in the fellowship hall of the Lockhart First United Methodist Church, 313 W. San Antonio St.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Mountain High Foundation, PO Box 467, Winnsboro, Texas, 75494, or a charity of your choice.
