Craig Barnhart, of Red Rock, passed away suddenly on Thursday, April 29, 2010, in San Antonio, at the age of 51. He was born in Pasadena, Texas, on Nov. 8, 1958, the son of Robert E. Lee and Willie Mae (Brown) Barnhart.

Craig served in the Texas Army National Guard for 28 years and retired in the rank of Master Sergeant. He also served for four years in the U.S. Mari

ne Corps. He loved ranching, raising cattle and riding horses. He was past president of the Lockhart Grace Lutheran Church Council and past president of the Centex Beef Alliance.

His father preceded him in death.

He is survived by his devoted wife, Diane Barnhart; his mother, Willie Mae Barnhart, of Red Rock; son, Zachary Griffin, of Red Rock; two daughters, Nicole Harmon and husband, Jimmy, of Corpus Christi, and Kelly Saito and husband, Fernando, of New Braunfels; brother, Russell Barnhart and wife, Carol, of Red Rock; and two precious grandchildren, Reece Harmon and Sabastian Saito.

Craig will always be remembered as a wonderful and loving son, husband, father, grandfather and friend who will be greatly missed by all those whose lives he touched.

Family received friends at McCurdy Funeral Home from 5 – 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 2, 2010. Funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. on Monday, May 2, 2010, at the Grace Lutheran Church in Lockhart, with the Rev. Wayne Walther officiating. Interment followed at the Bateman Cemetery in Bateman, Texas.
