Longtime Lockhart resident Doris Crow, 95, passed Sept. 27 at Parkview Nursing Home. She was born on Dec. 18, 1915, to John  Morgan Sanders and Lura Brown Sanders near Brady. She married Nolen Crow, Sr., in 1941 and moved their family to Lockhart in 1949, when the first DPS office in Caldwell County was opened.

She worked many years as an election judge, and her membership in the seniors group Autumn Years led to her being a founding member of Lockhart Senior Citizen Center.  There, she and Thelma Pearson worked tirelessly in fundraising. She and friend Tiny Kieke worked many hours in Silver Threads resale shop.

These ladies and their friends played many games of Canasta and 84.

She is survived by two daughters, Carla Halligan and husband, Bill, and Ellene Bailey and husband, Jack; one son, Nolen, Jr., and wife Malinda; grandsons, Troy Belver and Michael Whiteley; and granddaughter, Selaine Keaton.
