Our beloved Nana called Lockhart, Texas, her home for 91 years. She passed away on April 10, 2012, surrounded by family. She was born on April 7, 1921.

Nana raised two children, three grandchildren and touched the lives of countless others with her compassion, kindness, generosity and excellent culinary skills. Eloisa left an indelib

Eloisa is preceded in death by her husband, Willie Govea; parents, Atanacio and Sofia Partida; brothers, Apolinar and Joseph Partida; sisters, Ysaura Lopez, Henriquetta Rodriguez, Domitila Tamayo, Olivia Velasquez, Eugenia Velasquez and Mary Velasquez.

Eloisa is survived by her son, Andy Govea and wife, Nora, of Lockhart; daughter Linda Haji Hassani and husband, Ray, of Austin; sisters, Refugia Gonzales and Beatrice Partida; grandchildren: Andrea Rosales and husband, Jason, of Burke, Va., Monica Haji Hassani, of Austin, and Michael Govea and fiancée, Allie Vega, of Austin; and spoiled great-grandpuppies “Scotty” and Luke, Jett, Hank and Lucie.

Family and friends gathered at St. Mary of the Visitation on Friday, April 13 to celebrate the life of Eloisa with a Mass of Christian Burial. Eloisa was then laid to rest alongside her husband, Willie Govea. Pallbearers included Pete Govea, Johnny Velasquez, Bobby Tamayo, Michael Velasquez, Ernest Wilhelm, Jr., and Jim Roy, with Eloisa’s grandsons serving as honorary pallbearers.

On behalf of the family, we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to all who attended our Nana’s services, sent their condolences and offered kind words and prayers.
