Etta Ruth Langham Ellis was called home to be with her Lord and Savior on Nov. 1, 2014, after a long and wonderful life. She was 94 years old. Ruth called Reedville, Texas her home for 76 years. For the last three years, Ruth resided at Buckner Villas in Austin, Texas.

She was a devoted and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend. Ruth was a lifelong,

faithful member of the Martindale Baptist Church. She also was a member of Hermann”s Sons, the Maxwell Social Club and The Birthday Club. Other than her family, Ruth”s greatest joys were camping, bird watching, wildflowers, traveling, country music and dancing.

Ruth was born on Jan. 30, 1920, in Robstown, Texas, to Ella Cook Poole and L.T. Poole.

She is survived and will be deeply missed by her son Thomas G. Langham Jr., of Austin; step-daughter, Kathie Meredith and husband, Raymond, of Austin; and her sister, Marie Byrd, of Georgetown.

She was blessed with three grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and one great-great grandson. They are: Paul Henry and wife, Yuka, of Seattle, Wash., Jonathan Langham and wife, Shauna, of Pflugerville, and Joanna Ternus and husband, Joe, of Round Rock; and great-grandchildren: Courtney Mather and her husband, Thomas, of Colorado Springs, Rachel Langham, of College Station, Oliver and Iris Henry, of Seattle, Lauren Temus, of Round Rock, and Noah Mather, of Colorado Springs, is her great-great grandson.

Ruth also had numerous loving nephews, nieces and a long list of friends. She enjoyed a special loving relationship with all the members of her husbands” families.

Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and stepfather, Henry Timmerman; her husband of 37 years, Thomas G. Langham, Sr.; husband of 19 years, J.T. Ellis; her daughter, Ruth Henry; her daughter-in-law, Mavis Langham; and her devoted friend and neighbor, Bill Mareth.

The family planned to receive friends from 10 – 11 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 6, 2014, with funeral services immediately following at 11 a.m. at the McCurdy Funeral Home, 105 E. Pecan Street, Lockhart, Texas with Pastor Nigel of Martindale Baptist Church officiating. Interment will follow at the Lockhart City Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be Paul Henry, Jonathan Langham, Joe Temus, Quincy Byrd Jr., Donald Byrd, and Raymond Meredith.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Martindale Baptist Church in Martindale, TX.

The family would like to express their sincere thanks for all the loving support and countless prayers offered for Ruth during her recent illness.
