Gene E. Thompson, 81, of Prairie Lea, passed away Friday, Aug. 4, 2006, at Golden Age Nursing Home. He was born on July 16, 1925, in Kingsbury, Texas, to Wilson and Margaret (Hall) Thompson.
Gene was a United States Merchant Marine during World War II. He was married to Geraldine Caffey on April 1, 1949, in Houston. He worked as a pipe fitter in the petro-chemical indu

stry. He was a member of the Prairie Lea Baptist Church.
Gene was preceded in death by his parents, Wilson and Margaret Thompson, and by his wife, Geraldine Thompson, who passed away on March 19, 2006.
He is survived by his son, Charles W. Thompson and his wife Saundra of Pasadena, Texas; his daughters, Earline M. Turner and Janet L. Caddell, both of Prairie Lea; his sister, Peggy Stephens of Dallas; 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2006, at the Prairie Lea Baptist Church with Rev. Joel Densman officiating. Interment followed in Fentress Cemetery.
Memorials in Gene”s memory may be made to the Prairie Lea Baptist Church.
