Gloria Jo “Joey” Jeffry, 79, of Lockhart, passed away on May 8, 2014. She was born on Feb. 8, 1935, to Joe and Doris Thompson, who both preceded her in death.

She lived most of her life in Prairie Lea, Texas, where she was very active in sports, band and choir (the Melody Maids), throughout her school years. She continued to be active not only with her children, but with

children throughout the Prairie Lea community.

She worked for the school district in the 1960s and 1970s. She also own and ran the general store, where she cooked many lunches for students and area farmers.

After she married Jimmy Jeffrey in 1974, the couple moved to Rockport, where she continued to work for the Fulton ISD. She loved to fish and hunt, and could out-fish most men; but her true love was always country music.

She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Jimmy Jeffrey, of Lockhart; and her daughter, Mary Jo Roberts West and husband, Billy, of Lockhart; her son, Jim P. Jeffrey and wife, Stacey, of Hutto; grandchildren, Shane Roberts, Bryan Roberts, Kevin Roberts, Lonnie West and wife, Jamie, and Randy West and wife, Bobbie; 10 great-grandchildren; and many friends.

Her son, Bobby Lynn Roberts, survived, but passed away two days after his mother.

    Jimmy , Mary Jo and family,
    I am so sorry for your lose. I know Joey will be missed she was a beautiful lady. Another angel went to heaven.
