While surrounded by his loving family, Hershell Houston Warner left this earth to join his Heavenly Father, Jesus Christ, on May 1, 2016. His long battle with cancer and its complications ended. He had just celebrated his 83rd birthday on April 13.
Hershell is survived by his loving wife of 60 plus years, Doris (Cox); his son, Ed, and his wife, Sil; his daughter, Connie Warner

, and her husband, Hershell; his granddaughter, Tamra Srianant, and her husband, Bert; his grandson, Trey Warner; his sister, Angie Petty; his brother, Billy and his wife, Sandra; and numerous nieces, nephews and extended family members.
Hershell was preceded in death by his parents, William H. Warner and Jewell A. (Billings); and brothers:
A.J., G.W., William A., Earl D., and Charles E. Warner.
Hershell graduated from Mannsville High School in Mannsville, Okla. His first two years of college were completed at Murray State College in Tishomingo, Okla. His education was continued at Oklahoma A&M University in Stillwater, Oklahoma. In 1955, he decided to drop out of school to marry the love of his life, Doris.
Immediately, he was inducted into the US Army and served as a radar operator for two years of active duty. His four years of inactive duty was completed in Fresno, California with an honorable discharge in 1961.
In 1958, he became a real estate appraiser for Fresno County, Fresno, Calif. While he served in his profession, he continued his education at Fresno City Community College and Fresno State University. Thirty-four years later, he retired.
During this time he served his community by being a Little League baseball coach and volunteered with the Boy Scouts and Girl Scouts. He loved participating with his family in playing guitar, singing, water-skiing, square dancing, leather tooling, camping, fishing, gardening, traveling and church activities. He was well known for his taking time to assist people who were stranded due to car trouble even if he would be late for an event.
He and his wife bought a ranch in Dale, Texas in 1998 to be near their children and grandchildren. That place became his Heaven on earth. He and his passion for life will be missed by all who knew him well. A memorial and celebration of life will be held at McMahan Baptist Church at 6084 FM 713, Dale, Texas  at 11 a.m. on June 4, 2016.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations in Hershell’s name be made to McMahan Baptist Church Building Fund or Youth Group; the local food bank or Health Sense Foundation (Hospice).

I will forever remember the great love Uncle Hershell showed our family. He was larger than life and always made everyone smile.

Aunt Doris, Connie, Eddie, Sil, Little Hershell, Tamra, Trey, and Bert, our prayers are with you. I know you are feeling a tremendous loss right now. I wish we could go back in time and visit the years of elephant panty hose, Cowboy Koolaid, volleyball, and baseball games. Fishing, singing and playing cards or dominoes seems so long ago.

Love each of you with all my heart.
    Christine

Hershell was such a blessing to be around. We only knew him from church, but learned to love him greatly. He was so teachable and willing to learn the Word of God, his biblein Sunday School and was so faithful. Doris we love you and want you to know we will see Hershell again…we have not lost him…we know exactly where he is at.

I am so blessed to have had you as my grandpa. I will think of you always when I hear the steady roll of thunder or feel the raindrops falling from the sky. Your strong, steady hands were always there to guide me on my journey through life. I’ve learned a lot about this world through your guidance and direction: how to be humble in the face of accomplishment, how to be strong in the face of adversity, how to be quiet in times of turmoil, how to love with all my heart, and how to follow the words of the Lord. You will be missed by many. The world lost a beautiful, gentle man, one of my greatest heroes, and the most peaceful, hardworking, and loving souls to ever walk on this earth. But heaven gained an angel.

    We love you, Gramps.

We have so many special moments and memories of Hershell and family. He had such a gentle and caring soul. Hershell always made us feel welcome and part of his beautiful family. He was a great role model and had so much character and charisma.

Life is a gift from God. Our children, family, friends, neighbors, and strangers are all gifts to be savored. Although some days may be full of hardship and sadness, each breath, heartbeat, and thought illustrates the beautiful gift of life. When a love one is lost, try to avoid the feeling of being robbed or wronged. Keep the positive memories alive and thank God for the blessings in your past, present and future.

Doris, Ed, Sil, Connie, Hershell, Tamra, Bert and Trey; please know you are in our thoughts and prayers.

Our love for you Hershell will live in our minds and hearts forever.
