Early morning on Wednesday August 26, 2015 Homer Jacob Crader (Boatswain Mate First Class) was promoted to glory at Seton Medical Center Hays in Kyle, Texas, supported by his family.

Homer was born on November 6, 1940 in Lutesville, Mo. He is the second of six kids born to Cecil and Lola Crader. Homer was 17 when he answered his country’s call and joined the United States

Navy. He ended his 16 year career with the Navy as a Boatswain Mate First Class.

He loved fishing, playing his guitar and studying his Bible. His life roles consisted of Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, Shipmate and Friend.

Homer was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Crader and Lola Buckingham; his sister, Mikki Sitzes; and daughter, Sheila Clark.

Homer is survived in death by his wife of 56 years, Susan Crader, of Lockhart; sisters: Jackie VanCampen, Verla Long, Betty Anderson and Sandy Colby; step-brother, Richard Cook; his children and their spouses: Caren and Don Friend, Buddy and Donna Crader, Tamara and Dale Reeves, and Amy and Jason Westbrook; 24 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Homer’s Celebration of Life Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 5, 2015, at the Mineral Springs Baptist Church, 1386 Mineral Springs Rd., Lockhart, Texas. 78644.

Homer J. Crader was an active member of Victoria DAV Division 169 and very proud of his military service. In lieu of flowers the family would ask that donations be made to the DAV.org. God Bless You.
