Howard A. Branch, 78, of Lockhart, passed away on Sept. 19, 2008, in Austin, Texas. He was born on Sept. 8, 1930, in Waxahachie, Texas, to Travis and Maude Addie (Berry) Branch.

Howard was a member of St. John United Baptist Church. He was a disabled veteran from the US Army. He served his country in the Korean War. Howard was also a member of the VFW Post 8927. He w

as united in matrimony with his wife Esther on Nov. 28, 1967.

He is preceded in death by his parents Travis and Maude Branch: and four brothers: Ben Branch, Carl Lee Branch, Edward Branch, and W.H. Branch.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Esther Branch; daughter, Sheila Evans, and husband, Marvin, of Lockhart; brother, Abner Branch, and , Billie, of Lockhart; sisters: Novella Pettit, of Lockhart, and Janice Countee, of Omaha, Neb.; grandchildren: Aundi Clark, Jamaa Evans and Britnea Evans; and great-grandchildren: Franklin Cavanaugh and Jadyn Burnett.

Visitation with the family was scheduled on Wednesday, Sept. 24, 2008 at 6 p.m. at McCurdy Funeral Home. Services were scheduled at St. John United Baptist Church on Thursday, Sept. 25, 2008, at 10 a.m. with Rev. J.E. Morris officiating. Burial will follow at Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery at 2:30 p.m.
