Howard Harley Lock, Jr., went to see the Lord on Nov. 3, 2009 after a courageous battle against cancer for almost three years. He was born Aug. 6, 1940, to Howard Harley Lock Sr. and Jeanette Miller Lock, longtime residents of Lockhart and members of the First Lockhart Baptist Church.
Howard attended the Lockhart Public Schools where he participated in all sports. He

was also an inaugural member of Little League Baseball in Lockhart. He graduated from Lockhart High School in 1958. He then attended Texas A&M University where he was a member of the Corps of
Cadets. He graduated with a major in Civil Engineering in 1962.

After graduation he served two years in the United States Army and was stationed in South Korea on the 38th Parallel. His first civilian job was with Brown and Root in Houston. Later, he worked as an independent contractor in a variety of construction projects in the oil and gas industry in Texas, Louisiana, North Carolina, Georgia, Aruba, San Lucias, Afghanistan, Iraq and Saudi Arabia. Howard was also actively breeding and raising Brangus cattle all his adult life.

His happiest and proudest moment, however, was marrying his wife, the former Pat Wissen, and becoming a dad to Brian, Brent and Brandon Cunningham.
Howard was a lifelong member of the First Lockhart Baptist Church and the Adult’s Sunday School class which were always an important part of his life.
Howard was preceded in death by his parents Bill and Gene Lock, formerly of Lockhart, and by his grandparents Carrie and Gold Lock, formerly of Bastrop, Texas.

He will be lovingly remembered by his wife of 24 years, Pat; his mother- and father-in-law, Lula and Gene Wissen, of Austin; his sons, Brian Cunningham, wife, Jill, and children Ana, Elijah and Kyla, of Kauai, Hawaii; Brent Cunningham, of Lockhart, and Brandon Cunningham, wife, Kendra, and children, Cass and Clayton, of Lockhart; aunt, Elva Clyde Roberson, of Austin; brother John Lock and wife, Sandie, of Lockhart; brother-in-law, Sherwin Wissen and wife, Betty, of Austin; sister, Billie Jean Coopwood and husband, Jim Hamilton, of New York; nieces and nephews: Sarah Cowdin and husband Shawn of Ft.
