Jacqueline Walker was received into God’s loving arms on Sept. 17, 2009 at the age of 82 with her family at her side. She was born on Oct. 4, 1926, in Goldthwaite, Texas.

Jacque moved to San Marcos and met the love of her life. Jacque and Howard were married on Dec. 18, 1943, and would have celebrated their 66th anniversary in December. She stood by Howard’s sid

e for all their married life, worked along with him and was his right and sometimes even his left hand. Jacque was his confidant and biggest supporter as they owned grocery stores and later began the successful Golden Fried Chicken chain of restaurants in Texas and Oklahoma.

Jacque was preceded in death by her beloved granddaughter, Stephanie Williams.

She leaves to cherish her memory her husband, Howard; daughter and son-in-law, Beverly and Jerry Williams, of Seguin; daughter and son-in-law, Nancee and Preston Dobbs, of Lockhart; and son, Bob Walker and Brigette Brown, of Bastrop. “MeMe” is also survived by “the smartest grandchildren in the world:” Kristen Ebbert, Scott Williams, Marc Dobbs, Nichole Schaefer, Robert Walker and Jennifer Nieri. MeMe was blessed with four great-grandchildren: Zachary Dobbs, Eryn-Elizabeth Ebbert, Meghan-Michelle Ebbert and Stephanie Schaefer, who she was adored. Jacque’s love for her family was deep and powerful and she was devoted to them.

Jacque always said she was born Baptist and would die Baptist. She accepted Christ as her savior when she was a child and remained His until she joined Him in Heaven. She and Howard joined in the fellowship of First Lockhart Baptist Church in 1981.

Family accepted friends from 6 – 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, at McCurdy Funeral Home in Lockhart. A celebration of Jacqueline Walker’s life was held at McCurdy Memorial Chapel on Sept. 21, 2009, at 2 p.m. with the Reverend Gary Rodgers officiating.

Interment followed at the Memory Lawn Memorial Park in Martindale.

Honoring Jacque as pallbearers are grandsons: Scott Williams, Marc Dobbs, Craig Schaefer, Robert Walker, Caleb Nieri and Zachery Dobbs. Honorary pallbearers are great-granddaughters: Eryn-Elizabeth Ebbert, Meghan-Michelle Ebbert and Stephanie Schaefer.
