Karin Jensterle Montoya

Cats, kids, nature and comedy are some of the best things in life and Karin Adele Jensterle Montoya of Windsor, England, got her healthy dose of all these things each day. There a time I saw my mum without seeing a tail or furry paws scuttling to a nearby corner. Every day was like I had walked in on a funny joke and the crowd quickly dispersed upon my entry.
These are the lit

tle things I’ll always remember about mummy, who passed away on April 25, 2015.
Her favorite “pet” was her husband, Thomas R. Montoya. Their love was instantaneous when they met at their workplace in Zaragotha, Spain. Apparently, the line he used to “seal the deal” was telling her he wanted to see how she looked with her eyes closed … and when she did this, he went in for that first kiss that would continue on for the next forty years.
After a decade or so in Spain, the couple returned to his hometown, lively Lockhart, Texas.
They moved here in 1983 to be closer to his father, Willie R. Montoya who owned the Montoya Grocery store on the east side of town. The family loved that store – it had a never ending supply of free ice cream!
She loved becoming a newfound Texan, but she never quite could master saying “y’all” in a British accent. It just sounded funny.
Before long, she gave birth to two of her own beloved “kittens,” Jesse and Kristin. Their first memories are of learning to feed their four-legged brothers and sisters, a tradition they have passed now to her grandchildren.
While in town, Mum made the most of herself and when she wasn’t at home, she was seeing how many times the local Wal-Mart would rehire her. At last count, the sixth time was her final go at mixing paint. Although, it was not a glamourous job, she enjoyed all the local characters that you can find at the local neighborhood Wal-Mart.
Mum is survived by her three children: Karin Lesley Sanchez de Platero, Jesse Jensterle Montoya and Kristina Jensterle Haas. These few kids gave her a slew of grandchildren to retaliate for their over-exposure to felines and here they are in order from eldest to youngest: Talon Gavriel Grubbs (2002-2003), Karincita Neyra, Lisa Elizabeth Montoya, Hannah Grace Montoya, Alexander Michael Montoya, Catherine Joy Montoya, Kash Jensterle Haas and Lila Blanca Platero.
Services were scheduled Wednesday, April 29, 2015, at Grace Lutheran Church at 11 a.m., with viewing beginning at 10 a.m. Her gravesite burial is at St. Mary’s Cemetery and afterwards the family will have music, drinks and food at Chisholm Trail Ballroom, around 1:30 p.m. Everyone who remembers her is asked to celebrate Mum’s life in their own way, raising a glass of Guinness or champagne in her memory would be quite appropriate.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a donation to a no-kill animal shelter, or to St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital.
Services under the direction of McCurdy Funeral Home.

My sincere condolences to the Montoya family. Karen was a sweet person and I remember her always smiling. I loved her accent.

so sorry to hear of your loss. her children are her heart, and in you she lives on. when you feel lost and hopeless and alone, remember: she is not in your past, she is in your future.

God is Love, and He will not leave you forsaken.

    1 Cor. 13:13

    Love never fails.
