Louise Best

Louise Best passed away on Feb. 17, 2016, in Lakewood, Colo., after a long and valiant battle with breast cancer. She was born Oct. 4, 1940, in Tyler, Texas to John and Lucille Arnold Gore.

At the age of 4, she moved with her family to Sheridan, Texas, where her father was active in the start- up of the Shell Gas Plant. She attended school there a

nd was a member of the band, a cheerleader and graduated Valedictorian of her class from Sheridan High School.

She attended the University of Texas Austin and received her degree in nursing from UTMB Galveston. After marrying Ronald Best, of Maxwell, they lived for short periods of time in Louisiana, Texas, Utah and Arizona before settling in Lakewood, Colo.

She pursued her career in nursing and over the years worked in a skilled nursing facility, for an ophthalmologist and in the ophthalmologist office at Kaiser Permanente. She loved spending time in her garden and often called gardening her “therapy.” She was passionate about cooking, thrifting, and above all, spending time with her family and grandchildren.

Louise is survived by her husband, Ronald Best; daughters: Deborah Best and husband, Danny Brown, of Portland, Ore., and Melissa Best and husband, John Bennett, of Seattle, Wash.; two grandchildren: Marley Brown and August Bennett; three brothers: John Gore and wife, Sarah, of Alvin, Texas, Clarence and wife, Carol Beth, of Sugarland, Texas and Donald and wife, Miriam, of Possum Lake, Texas; sister-in-law Nancy Hess and husband, Darrell, of Lockhart, Texas; nephews: Sean Gore, Christopher Gore, Jay Gore and Jeffrey Gore, and J Hess; and nieces: Christa Gore Parker, Lea Gore Young, Carrie Gore Rutledge and Kristi Hess Visage.

She was preceded In death by her parents John and Lucille Gore, in-laws Theodore and Leona Best and her beloved aunt Sadie Wright.
