Lura Glynn Bain was received into God’s loving arms on June 2, 2012, at the age of 86. She was born on Feb. 26, 1926, in Luling, Texas to Viron and Pearl Mercer.

Lura graduated as salutatorian from Luling High School, and during WWII went to work for the IRS. She later returned to Luling, met and married Melvin Bain on Nov. 27, 1946. After marrying, they settled in Victori

a, where their sons Don and Ken were born. For the next 25 years she stayed home, raised her sons and was helpmate to Melvin in every area of their lives. After Ken went to Texas A&M, Lura returned to work as Financial Secretary at Westminster Bible Church in Victoria.

Lura and Melvin were married 65 years at the time of her death. Lura Glynn leaves to cherish the memory or her beloved husband, Melvin, and her two sons, Don and wife, Susan, of Devon, Pa., and Ken and wife, Stacie, of Santa Fe, Texas. Lura and Melvin were blessed with their only grandchild, Lauren, a day after their 50th wedding anniversary.

Lura Glynn is survived by close friends and extended family, too numerous to mention, who truly loved and respected her. She treasured her relationships with people and always found time to help a person in need.

Lura Glynn accepted Christ as her Savior when she was eight years old, and was baptized at Mineral Springs Baptist Church. She and Melvin served in many churches during their marriage and joined First Lockhart Baptist Church in 1986 after they returned to Luling. They are faithful members of the Friendship Sunday School class.

Their “retirement” years were very active and Lura was blessed to work alongside Melvin as they ranched and raised BeefMaster Cattle. Her happiest days were spent riding the pastures of their ranch and viewing her “pets.”

Lura Glynn influenced and transformed many people’s hearts during your lifetime. Whether someone met her once and spoke to her on a regular basis, they call all remember the lasting fingerprints she left on their lives.

Family received friends at McCurdy Funeral Home from 6 – 8 p.m. on Monday, June 4, 2012. A celebration of Lura Glynn’s life commenced on Tuesday, June 5, 2012, at 2 p.m. at McCurdy Funeral Home in Lockhart, Texas, with the Rev. Gary Rogers officiating. Interment followed at Luling Cemetery in Luling.

Serving as pallbearers and honorary pallbearers were Chris Caddell, Lynn Cochran, Dr. William Cole, Dr. Samson Jesudass, Noble Malik, Leland Mercer, Paul Mohle, Robert Woolson and the Friendship Sunday School class.
