Mary Louise “Lou” Jones, (nee Reither), 69, of Bateman, Texas, went to the arms of Jesus after several months of pitched battle with multiple illnesses on July 31, 2015.
Mary was born in Austin, Texas, on March 11, 1946, to Albert Lyle Reither and Rosa Nell Reither (nee Felps).
She was a South Austin kid, and a graduate of Travis High School. She dedicated her life to Chr

ist, fully, at the age of 16 at Camp Zion, in Myrtle, Miss.
She married Jeffres Wright Jones on Jan. 28, 1966. Mary was a Pastor’s wife, loved to work with teenagers and was a strong advocate for the proper place and voice of women in the church. Mary was a vocal supporter of women’s rights and issues and a lifelong Democrat.
She is survived by her loving husband, Jeff Jones of Bateman, Texas; their son, Jason Jones and Karin; their foster son, Stephen Woytkewicz and Pattie; 13 grandchildren and four more by proxy; her sister, Shirley DeBerry and Mark, of Buda; her nephew, Trent DeBerry, of Newtown, Conn.; numerous family and friends; and her two beloved Shih-Tzu’s, Dahli-Tsu and Bo.
She was preceded in death by her father and mother, and one brother, Albert Lyle “Bubby” Reither, Jr.
Visitation was held Tuesday, Aug. 4, from 6-8 p.m. at McCurdy Funeral Home in Lockhart.
Homegoing Celebration, was planned on Wednesday, Aug. 5, at 2 p.m. at First Lockhart Baptist Church in Lockhart. Guests are asked to wear red.

Mary Lou burned hot and bright for 69 years and if you close your eyes you can still see the afterimage of her like someone set off a flash bulb in the dark. We will miss her but look forward to the time still to come.
