Juanita “Nita” Foreman Monroe, of Lockhart, passed away on Dec. 19, 2014, after a long illness. She was born on Sept. 20, 1925, in Roby, Texas, to Gilbert and Rubie (Potts) Foreman.
Juanita was the eldest of five children. She was preceded in death by her parents; a brother, John G. “Tooter” Foreman; and sister, Ada Jo Brashears.
Juanita is survived by her daughters,

Linda Monroe, of Kansas City, Mo., and Mona Monroe, of Lockhart; step-daughter, Linda Wollman, husband, Ray, and daughter, Allison, of San Francisco; grandchildren: Jenny Scullin, of Shawnee, Kan., and her sons, Corey and Troy, Rachel McVey, husband, Don, and sons, Charlie and Conor, Dyanna Matthews, husband, Tracy, and son, Bryant, of Lockhart, Genevieve Cardozo, husband, Sam, and sons, Parker and Hudson, of Hutto, and Cash Monroe and wife, Meredith, of Austin; brothers, Jimmie Foreman, of Schertz, and Jack Foreman and wife, Jill, of Pflugerville; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
During her life, Juanita served as president of the Women’s Foundation of New Jersey, and was a frequent soloist for her church in East Brunswick, N.J.
Before moving to Lockhart, Juanita worked for an elite hotel chain as an executive assistant to the president, and then as their marketing and sales executive in San Francisco.
Juanita’s ashes will be interred at Ft. Sam Houston National Cemetery in San Antonio, in a private family service presided by Pastor Steve Garcia.
