Odell James Harris passed away peacefully in San Marcos on Feb. 5, 2008.
Odell James “Sonny” Harris was born in Lockhart, Texas, to Viola Henderson and Jimmy Harris on July 20, 1940. He was united in matrimony to Mary Elizabeth Crayton on June 15, 1963.
Odell was a graduate of Carver High School in Lockhart. He served his country in the United States Navy, where

he received an honorable discharge.
His parents; sisters, Naomi Willis and Rachel Hicks; and step-son, Antonio Harris, preceded him in death.
Odell will be deeply missed. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Mary Harris; two sons, La Charris Harris of San Marcos and Christopher Harris of Memphis, Tenn.; one daughter, Rhonda Kimmins-Love (Jerome) of Lockhart; two step-brothers, Jessie Freeman (Jane) of Houston and Felton Freeman of Lockhart; two step-sisters, Bessie Wright of San Antonio and Argie Lee Johnson of Los Angeles; six granddaughters and two great-grandsons; one aunt, Mytris Davis, of San Antonio; and a host of nieces and nephews, as well as countless family members and friends.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, Feb. 16, 2008, at 1 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Reverend Edward M. Flemings Sr., officiating. Burial will follow at the Fleming Cemetery in McMahan, Texas.
Serving as the pallbearers will be Jerome Love, Stanley Coleman, Eddie Willis, Wayne Willis, Tremaine Britton and Lester Jackson. Serving as the honorary pallbearers will be Gregory Coleman, John Eddie Brite, Ray Coleman, Daniel Henderson, Lester Hicks and Dante Britton.
