Miss Ofelia Capello Velasquez, 80, of Lockhart passed away in Austin on Feb. 13, 2007. Ofelia was born on April 18, 1926 to Leandro and Benita Capello Velasquez in Lockhart. She was a housekeeper for many years before retiring. She was an active member of St. Mary”s Catholic Church.
She is survived by two sisters: Mary Helen Martinez and Rosemary Mendez of Lockhart; fi

ve brothers: Joe Velasquez of Lockhart, Gilbert Velasquez, Tony Velasquez and Guadalupe Velasquez all of Austin, and Abel Velasquez of Manchaca.
A visitation was held from 6 – 8 p.m. on Thursday, Feb. 15, at the Eeds Funeral Home Chapel. Visitation continued from 9 a.m. – 9 p.m. with the Rosary starting at 7 p.m. on Friday at the Eeds Chapel. Funeral Mass was held at St. Mary”s Catholic Church at 10 a.m. with Reverend Robert Becker officiating. Interment followed in St Mary”s Catholic Cemetery.
Serving as pallbearers were: Albert Yanez, Ernest Yanez, Michael Velasquez, Master Sergeant John David Mendez, Anthony Velasquez, Gina Velasquez and Erica Mendez. Honorary pallbearers were: Diane Velasquez, Lynda Acosta, Linda Baltierra, Karen Martinez, Nova Vela and Casey Vela.
