Ophia Ola White, of Lockhart, Texas, passed away on Jan. 15, 2013, at the age of 97. She was born on Oct. 5, 1915, in McMahan, Texas, to Marvin and Alice (Stephens) Dinges.

Those who knew Ola will remember her easy, genuine smile and selfless nurturing character. Her appreciation for every one of God’s creations was matched only by the joy she got from being surrounded by

the family she loved, who also loved her… so very much. In her 97 years, she never went without a family member by her side. She was the most loving wife, mother, and grandmother.

She had a love of music, having a song for almost any word we said, which she imparted to her family. She gave loving advice when it was sought and was always kind and patient, with unconditional love.

God blessed her with a wonderful life, which she lived to its fullest and she had so much life, happiness, and spirit. She was truly the pillar of her family, and she will be missed everyday!

We are everything she is, and she will always be with us. We love you!

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Thurmon White.

She is survived by three daughters, Judy Lewis, Christy Stephens and Debra Gilbert and husband, Gib; four grandchildren: Larry Lewis, Millette Sherman, Heather Stephens and Brandi Andrews; five great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild.

Family received friends at McCurdy Funeral Home, from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 18, 2013. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 19, 2013, at McCurdy Funeral Home in Lockhart, with Rev. Gary Rodgers officiating. Interment followed at Lockhart City Cemetery.
