Paul Howington, 92, of Niederwald, Texas, passed away on Thursday March 8, 2012. He was born June 27, 1919, in Abilene, Texas. He was the tenth son of Joseph and Alice Howington, of Abilene.

He served his country in the U.S. Navy during WWII, as a radio operator on a destroyer off the coast of Japan. After his tour with the Navy, Paul worked for Texas Utilities and retired f

rom there. He moved to Niederwald so his wife could be closer to her son in 1978. From 1978 on, he was a longtime member of First Lockhart Baptist Church where he formed many lasting relationships.

He was married to Verba Lee “Dee” Howington for 30 years. She preceded him in death in 2001.

He is survived by his son, Jan Howington and wife, Charlene, of Colorado; stepson Richard Lee Bible and wife, Joyce, of Niederwald. He leaves behind six grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren; along with several nieces and nephews.

Memorial service will be held at First Lockhart Baptist Church on Sunday, March 18, 2012 at 2 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to the Highland Lakes Baptist Children’s Camp fund at First Lockhart Baptist Church for summer of 2012, in honor of Paul Howington, and his love for children and our Lord.
