Roberto “Beto” Reyes, 75, a resident of Martindale, Texas, passed away at his home on July 2, 2010. He was born March 20, 1935, in Staples, Texas, to Marcelino and Amalia (Espinoza) Reyes.

Beto was known throughout Martindale for the way he so generously helped people with odd jobs that they needed to be done around their homes. Often Beto would begin his days of “work

ing” early in the morning and wouldn’t return home until late at night.

He never married or had any children, but considered the people of Martindale and his nieces and nephews as his family. Beto is preceded in death by his parents; and his sisters, Jesusa Reyes Silvas and Maria Reyes Perez.

He is survived by his sisters Paula Reyes Moreno of Martindale, and Antonia Reyes Hernandez, of Lockhart; brothers, Tomas Reyes, Sr., of Seguin, Angel Reyes and his wife, Fermina, of Martindale, and Ted Reyes and his wife, Susie, of Martindale; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation was held on Sunday, July 4, 2010, from 1 – 9 p.m. at Thomason Funeral Home in San Marcos. A Rosary was recited that evening at 7 p.m. in the funeral home chapel. A Funeral Mass was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, July 5, 2010, at the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Martindale. Burial followed at the San Juan Cemetery in Reedville, Texas. Serving as pallbearers were Maurilio Garcia, Joe Reyes, Jose Reyes, Teddy Reyes, Emilio Hernandez, Jr., Alfonso Perez, Marcos Mendez, Johnny Waleaand Natividad Olvera, Jr.
