Rodell Kent Roberts, 66, of Parker, Colo., passed away peacefully on Thursday, Sept. 24, 2009 in Littleton Hospital, in Littleton. Rod was born on May 24, 1943, in Beloit, Wis.

Rod married the love of his life, Laura Taylor, of Dale, Texas, on March 25, 1983. He is also survived by his father, Phil Roberts, of Wisconsin, and mother, Ruth Hill, of California; two brot

hers, Roger and Russell Roberts; two daughters, Shelia DeLaRosa and Julie Forbing; and five grandchildren.

Rod joined the Air Force in 1961, where he started his law enforcement career as a Military Policeman through 1965. He was also with the Austin Police Department for seven years before coming to Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office in 1981. He worked as Deputy, Jail Administrator and Chief Deputy until 1989. He and his wife, Laura, then moved to Colorado in 1989. His final work was with Burt Chevrolet, in the Denver area, for 10 years as a Parts Manager. Through out his time in Colorado, he and his wife, Laura, loved to spend time in the mountains and National Park.

Family accepted friends from 6 to 8 p.m. on Monday, Sept. 28, 2009, at McCurdy Funeral Home in Lockhart. Funeral services were held 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2009, at McCurdy Memorial Chapel in Lockhart, with Rev. Gary Rodgers officiating. Interment followed at Jeffrey Cemetery in McMahan, Texas.

Pallbearers were: Patrick Plant, Floyd Wilhelm, Jr., David Brent, Fred Dodson, Gerald Clough, Don Zurr and Keith Jeffrey.
