Roy L. McKean was born Oct. 30, 1923, the fourth son born to George Cole McKean and Ollie Mae McDonald.

He was united in marriage with Cubie Voigt on June 8, 1945.

He is survived by his wife, Cubie; his sons: Skyler and wife, Janie McKean, and Gordan and wife, Brenda McKean, all of Austin; and his daughter: Lila and husband, Larry Harmon, of Holland, Texas. H

e is also survived by four grandchildren: Zephora, Brett, Lesleigh and Melissa; three sweet great-grandchildren, Zariella, Zienna and Caden; brothers: Calvin McKean, of Kerrville, Texas, and Charlie McKean, of Elm Grove; and sister, Natalene Fischer, of Lockhart.

He was a mechanic for many years at the Rainbow Garage which he owned and operated. Mr. McKean also owned a drive-in grocery store called Rainbow Drive-in.

When he retired and moved to the country he spent the happiest years of his life, gardening, fishing, hunting and enjoying his hilltop retreat.

Visitation was held on Thursday May 6, 2010 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Eeds Funeral Home in Lockhart, Texas. Services were held on Friday, May 7, 2010, at 10:00 a.m. with Brother Rex Johnson officiating. Serving as pallbearers were: Ronnie McKean, Brett McKean, Christopher Frey, Michael Dunlap, Larry Harman and Jason Friesenhahn. Serving as honorary pallbearers were: Ricky Zaleski, Wade Gott, Wayne Fischer and Willy Bussa.

Interment followed at Pettytown Cemetery.
