Sarah Eloise (Gramling) Culpepper, of Red Rock, was born Nov. 29, 1922, in Waukeenah, Fla., the youngest of eight, to Edwin and Annie (Grantham) Gramling. She went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 24, 2016.
Sarah was predeceased by her siblings: Jewel, Napoleon, Edwin, Wesley, Preston, Josie and Inman Gramling.
She grew up in Florida and later went to work in Georgia.

married the love of her life, Roger G. Culpepper, on Oct. 21, 1944.  They had two sons, John (Randy) and Robert (Bobby) Culpepper, both deceased.
She is survived by daughters-in-law, Jerrie K. Culpepper and Linda Culpepper and grandchildren: Bambi (Billy) Maugham, Shannon Huebner, Sandra (JoeRoy) Niemann, Dustin (Jennifer) Culpepper, Carma Parker, Teri Watts, Pamela (Rudy) Vasquez and Jess Wilson.  Grandson Jeffrey V. Culpepper also preceded her in death leaving his wife, Maria.  Great-grandchildren include: Lauren Culpepper, Wyatt Huebner, Lynette (Roy) McCleney, Melanie (Nick) Dockery, Tana Culpepper, Jeffrey (Randy) Culpepper, Randi Culpepper, Sarah Culpepper, Callynn Niemann, Cheyenne Niemann, Charles Niemann, Kyla Ringer, Sofia Dockery, Emma Culpepper, Gunner Culpepper, Waylon Culpepper, Marissa Watts, Jadrienne Preiss, Caleb Preiss and Joel Wilson as well as six great-great-grandchildren.   She was also preceded in death by great-grandson, Ruger Culpepper. Sarah was very active in Boy Scouting, trail riding, and square dancing, and she taught swimming in Lockhart for many years.  Sarah and Roger were well known also for managing the Rogers Ranch Bowling Club for over 20 years.
She was an excellent seamstress and upholsterer and also worked preparing taxes with H&R Block for many years.  Sarah was a very talented and amazing woman and could find ways to create things out of almost nothing.
She loved her cows and living on the ranch. She loved gardening and was so disappointed when she was no longer able to maintain one.  Even though Sarah had a reputation for being very outspoken, some would say ornery, she was greatly loved by both family and friends.
Sarah and Roger lived for many years in Lockhart but when he passed on, she opted to move out to the country where she has been surrounded by family and friends over the past 20 years.  She had been at the Chisolm Trail Nursing Home for the last 10 months.
Visitation is scheduled at McCurdy Funeral Home in Lockhart on Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016 from 4-6 p.m.  Funeral service will be at Bateman Baptist Church on Saturday, Oct. 29, 2016 at 3 p.m. with interment in Bateman Cemetery’ followed by a gathering at Bateman Baptist fellowship hall.
Pallbearers are Darrell Schuenemann, Gary Duran, John Fuqua, David McMullen, Rodney Ellis, Tommy Hemphill and honorary pallbearers James Hagan, and Floyd (Tinker) Wilhelm Jr. Contributions may be made in her honor to the Boy Scouts of America or the Lytton Springs Masonic Lodge #487.
