Stephen Kuhn

Stephen John Kuhn, known as Bubba to his many friends, was welcomed into this world in Taylor, Texas, on Nov. 10, 1949, by Bessie and Charles Kuhn, his youthful loving parents, and by big brother Joaquin, almost 10, big sister Pat, 5, and big sister Betty, 2.
Before he was old enough to know it, our family of six moved to a farm at Brown’s Gin, south of Taylor, where as a yo

ung boy he had the freedom to range over the fields and pastures of the farm and countryside and to swim in the cattle tank. He started school at St. Mary’s in Taylor, where his three siblings had been settled in for ten years.
Stephen went to Hutto High in the tenth grade and graduated in 1967. He had the same knack for automobiles and mechanical things that our Daddy had, and could fix anything that moved by gears or blinked with lights. He loved radios and electronic devices, ultimately having his own business which he called The Neon Radio. Repairing tube radios and their cabinets were his specialty, and he had customers from all over the world. Before settling in Lockhart, Stephen worked in oilfield locations in Brazil, where he was a consultant for an oil company, in Norway, and other exotic places. He was an avid skier and skied every year for 20 years.
Stephen and his three siblings have long agreed that the closest thing to perfection in human existence is to find the partner who fulfills you by being your best friend, your lover and your soulmate.
Stephen and Susan Andrews luckily found each other to be this kind of partner and wisely chose to confirm in act and commitment what they knew in their hearts.
Stephen’s sister, Betty, died in 2012 in Georgetown, leaving her husband Randall and two sons, Scott Johnson and Jimmy Johnson, and their wives Melanie and Jaime, and nephews Lincoln and Nate and Reed.
Stephen is survived by a son, Jamie Akin.
Stephen’s sister, Pat, has three sons, Jay Trcka and wife, Laura, and children, Michael and Sarah; Robbie Trcka and children, Turner and Jaxon; and Mike Trcka and wife, Melissa, and child, Olivia.
Stephen’s brother, Joaquin, resides with his son, Martin, and his daughter-in-law, Helen, and granddaughters, Maeve and Isabella.
Our little Bubba will be missed more than we can now imagine, but we are better for having known him and loved him. His wife Susan’s loss is too much to try to bring into words here.
Stephen passed away on May 1, 2015. A memorial service to celebrate Stephen’s life will be held at Church Street the Venue in Lockhart, on Saturday, May 9, at 3 p.m.
Arrangements under the direction of McCurdy Funeral Home, 105 E. Pecan, Lockhart, Texas (512) 398-4791.

I had NO idea, Susan, I knew Steven way back in the eighties in Austin. He was in my dream last night. I’d known he called you his soul mate. What the hell happened? Please let me know. Too sad for words. Hang in there xoxoxo
