Theodore E. Huddleston

Theodore E. Huddleston of Niederwald and Kyle, Texas, passed from this life on Sept. 30, 2009. Ted was born in Olivia, Texas, on April 16, 1929. He attended school in Palacious, Texas. After high school, he worked for AT&T in Austin, Texas.

He joined the U.S. Navy in 1950 and served aboard the USS Small and USS Hollister in the Korean Conflict. He was honored wi

th commendation metals for his service. Honorably discharged in 1953, he resumed work for AT&T and Southwestern Bell, where he retired after 38 years of perfect attendance.
In his career with AT&T he served in the Plant Department and in Management.

A long time resident of Hays County, he is survived by his wife of 44 years, Jo Ann R. Huddleston. Also surviving are sons, Jack L. Huddleston of Manchaca, Texas. Mark J. Huddleston and wife, Penny, of Albuquerque, N.M., Keith L. Huddleston and wife, Veronica, of Austin, and Philip R. Huddleston and wife, Lisa, of Benbrook, Texas; and daughter, Deborah A. Hite and husband, David L. Hite, of Kyle. Grandchildren are Nikki Jordan, of Austin, Dawn Smith, of Ruidoso, N.M., David King, of Garfield, Jennifer Reynolds, of Austin, Travis R. Huddleston, of Benbrook, Kevin Huddleston, of Luling, Letitia G. Baker, of Ft. Meade, Md., Brennan T. Gammage, of Kyle, and Dakota Davis, Briella Huddleston, Janea Huddleston, Markah Huddleston and Robert Huddleston, of Albuquerque. Great-grandchildren are: Lucas Reynolds, Jr., of Austin; Jonah Baker, of Ft. Meade, Md., Caleb Huddleston, of Luling, Mia Jordon, of Austin, Ashley King, of Garfield, and Brieana Smith, of Ruidoso, N.M.

Ted was preceded in death by his parents, Myrtle Hadley Huddleston and John F. Huddleston; brothers, John H. Huddleston, Calvin Huddleston and Odell Huddleston; and sisters, Nettie Longoria and Lucille Pargman. Surviving sisters are Ola Mae Peterson, of Port Lavaca, Geneva Mercer, of Moody, and Estelle Johnson, of Washington State.

The family will hold a memorial service at a future date. We would like to thank the staff and nurses of Golden Age Home in Lockhart, Texas, for the care and consideration they extended to Ted and all of his friends there. Thank you for your support and the kindness you have shown. Thanks also to the nurses and doctors of Central Texas Medical Center ICU and St. David’s ICU.
