Letters – Implant recipient thanks Samaritans

To the Editor:

I have a hearing disorder that will eventually cause total deafness if something is not done to restore my hearing. There is a new implant device available that could help and has been life-changing for many people. The surgery is not covered by insurance and three months ago, the cost of the surgery seemed like an impossible mountain that could not be moved.

Now, thanks to friends, family, the Lockhart community, complete strangers, and a miracle-working God, that mountain has been moved. In two weeks, I will be having the implant surgery that will begin to restore my hearing in one ear.

Two months after the surgery, we will know if it has been successful and I am confident that it will be. Many people are praying for the success of the surgery and I am grateful for your prayers.

All of this would have been impossible without the help of so many people.

I offer a special thanks to the Alpha Psi Beta Chapter of Beta Sigma Phi, my friends in our Bible study group, the Episcopal Church, Amy Scott and hostesses Becki Womble and Gretchen Pearson for the proceeds from jewelry parties.

Many thanks to Janet Meier, Sherri Williamson, Bethany Williamson, Shelly Weber, Cathy Sughrue, Katie Weiss, Meghan Bailey, Krystin Feole, Shannon Moore, Cody Baird and so many others who helped with the garage sale, including people from First Lockhart Baptist Church who provided sale items and allowed us to use the parking lot for the sale.

Thank you to the husbands and children of the above friends who carried the heavy stuff at the sale and cleaned up afterwards.

Thank you to all who came to the sale and bought items and baked goods.

Thank you to so many people who have made monetary gifts and to those who have ordered and purchased baked goods.

We are humbled and overwhelmed by your generosity.

You have all helped make an impossible burden bearable and I am deeply touched and grateful beyond words.

Elizabeth Raxter

Lockhart
