Peggy L. Brooks passed away with her daughter at her side at Christopher House on March 8, 2007. Peggy was born in Austin, Texas, on Aug. 21, 1929 to Mr. and Mrs. Perry Burch. Peggy was a sixth generation Central Texan, with Del Valle and Lockhart ties. Peggy, as a teenager, worked as a cashier at the Milam Restaurant where she met and married Bill Brooks, June 16, 1945. gy was an excellent oil painter who made bluebonnets look like bluebonnets. Peggy was the guiding light for Brooks Land Surveyors, doing drafting and all the field notes that went on the subdivision plats.
Peggy was a Methodist by faith.
Peggy”s husband Bill died Jan. 1, 1990. Peggy is survived by her daughter Carol Lynette Beck (James) and her son William David Brooks (Gayle); two grandson”s, James Aaron Beck (Brande) of Lockhart, Texas and William Scott Beck (Brandi); three great-granddaughters, Amanda Brooks, Sarah Brooks and Jennifer Brooks of Manchaca, Texas; and three great grandsons Calvin James Beck, Clayton Roberts and Colton Roberts.
The family would like to thank the many people who cared for Peggy, including Christopher House, Seton Northwest and Seton Medical Center.
Graveside services were held 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 10, 2007, in the Lockhart City Cemetery at the Brooks family plot.
