Ralph Michael Casteel went to be with his Lord in Heaven on Jan. 17, 2012. He was born Dec. 31, 1961, at San Pablo AFB in Seville, Spain to Major Wm. R. Casteel and Dorothy Wittenburg Casteel.

He was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife, Frances Salas Casteel of Benavides, Texas; two daughters, Kara Nicole Casteel, of Austin, and Alissa Blake Casteel,

of Seguin; three brothers: Wm. M. Casteel and wife, Anna, of Wimberley, Wayne Casteel and wife, Leslie, of Lockhart, and David Casteel and wife, Kathy, of Houston; four sisters: Priscilla Hellums and husband, Terry, of Austin, Dixie Grant, of McNeil, Jo Ellen Young and husband, Jerry, of Baytown, and Carol Martin and husband, Stanley, of Lockhart; one brother-in-law, Cleo Salas and wife, Molly, of Lockhart; two sisters-in-law, Gloria Witt, of Round Rock, and Angie Pena and husband, Arnold, of Benavides; also many nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles.

Ralph graduated from Lockhart High School in 1980. He and Frances married in Lockhart in 1982. Most of his career was spent as journeyman electrician. He and Frances recently moved to Benavides where Ralph worked as an electrician at Uranium Energy Corp. Frances teaches science and coaches at Benavides Secondary School.

Ralph will be remembered for his pockets full of chewing gum and a whit as sharp as his duck hunting skills. He was always out-fished by the three women in his family. He was a wonderful landscaper and loved the outdoors. He never carried any animosity unless it had to do with the Dallas Cowboys.

Visitation was held from 6 – 8 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 20, 2012, at McCurdy Funeral Home. Services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Jan. 22, 2012, at First Assembly of God Church on Hwy. 183, north of Lockhart.

    No words can adequately express the depth of our sorrow. Our deepest sypathies go to Frances and her entire family in their loss.
