Raymond Heideman, lifelong resident of Uhland for 89 years, passed away on Thursday, Jan. 26, 2012, after fighting ill health for several years. After a fall and broken hip, his health declined rapidly.

Raymond was born to Gus and Ella Kramer Heideman on July 12, 1922, on the farm where he resided with his wife Myrtle for 68 years. His parents; brothers, Gerhardt and August;

sisters, Lena Franke, Freida Sheel and Wilma Schnautz; and daughter, June Heideman preceded him in death.

Survivors include his wife, Myrtle Heideman; his sister Adelene (Heideman) Wisian; brother, Clarence Heideman; son Daniel Heideman, and wife, Sharon (Holt) Heideman; daughter Terry (Heideman) Kleen and husband, Ricky Kleen. Raymond also leaves behind four grandchildren: Dennis Heideman and wife, Kim (Boyce) Heideman, Debbie (Heideman) Moore and husband, Mike Moore, Brian Heideman, and Tracie (Kleen) Crowell and husband, Don Crowell; seven great-grandchildren: Becca (Heideman) Schultz and husband, David Schultz, Kassi, Hanna and Maddy Heideman, Ranson and Cooper Moore and Logan Crowell; and one great-great-granddaughter, Chloe Schultz.

Raymond’s greatest pride and joy was his family and the farm. He row-crop farmed, dairy farmed, raised hogs, and custom combined. But Raymond’s favorite was ranching and raising Red Brangus cattle. All knew him by his “bibbed” overalls, with a tire gauge and electric fence tester always resided in his bib.

He served his community as a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Uhland, serving several terms as treasurer, a member and served as President for many years of the Uhland Volunteer Fire Department. Raymond was chairman of the Old Spanish Trail Days parade committee and served many years on the Hays County ASDA Committee.

Memorial services will be held at St. Johns Lutheran Church in Uhland, Texas, on Saturday Feb. 4, 2012, at 10 a.m., with interment following at the Uhland Live Oak Cemetery. Lunch will be hosted by the Women’s Guild of St. John Lutheran Church at the Uhland Community Center following the services.

The family suggests memorial contributions to St. John Lutheran Church, 20 N. Camino
