REDEMPTION STORY: Xavia Thompson breaks Lion drought for state track appearances

A stellar season for Lockhart High School track and field standout Xavia Washington came to an end on Friday in Austin at the UIL Texas State Track & Field Championships, where the senior finished eighth in the 100-meter dash and posted a personal best 12.22 seconds.
Thompson’s time was less than a full second off state champion Kenondra Davis of Trimble Tech, who finished the race in 11.43 seconds. Thompson finished ahead of Taylor Hill of Lamar Fulshear, who posted a time of 12.29.
