Rosemary Theresa Franks was born to William Clynch Franks and Rosie E. Miller Franks on Sept. 30, 1929. She was the youngest one of 18 children.

Rosemary was united in marriage to Nathaniel Bennett, Sr., and to this union they were abundantly blessed with ten loving children. Rosemary Bennett developed a relationship with Christ at an early age and was a faithful member of D

ale Corinth United Methodist Church in Dale, Texas, where she sung in the choir, was on the missionary board and fulfilled any position where she was needed in the church until she departed this life.

Rosemary was an avid gardener who loved to fill the dirt between her hands and toes. She could grow anything from tomatoes, greens, watermelons, cantaloupe, peas… There wasn’t anything that would not thrive under her green thumb.

As a nurturer of the earth and people she never turned anyone away.

Rosemary was a caregiver for three generations of the Kings and the Withers families and many more. There was one story in particular she talked about often, when she rode on the back of a four wheeler through the pasture to pick dewberries to make one of her famous dewberry cobbler.

Rosemary loved her children and grandchildren and didn’t mind sparing the rod. She was a hard worker and instilled those values into her children and others.

Education was very important to her as she made great deposits in their lives. Rosemary loved all things beautiful. Her home was a testament to this inside and out.

Holidays were very special to her as her home was a gathering place for her family and friends. Great food, fellowship and lots of laughs. Rosemary enjoyed her weekend gatherings with Willie and LaTrell watching Tyler Perry movies and eating into the wee hours of the morning.

Rosemary was preceded in death by her parents, husband, a son and 16 siblings.

She leaves to cherish to her memory a sister, Willie Jr. Franks Hill, of San Antonio, and a beloved niece, LaTrell Woods, of San Antonio; nine children: Joyce Bennett, of St. John, Nathaniel Bennett, Jr. (Sayeeda), of Lockhart, Gregory Bennett, of Dale, Bruce Bennett (Paula), of Germany, Priscilla Theresa Bray (William, Sr.) of San Antonio, Pattie Marie Bennett, of Lockhart, Barbara Bennett, of Killeen, Ann Wilhelm Brite, of Lockhart, and Andy Wilhelm, of New Braunfels; 31 grandchildren; 48 great-grandchildren; and host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

A wake will be held from 5 – 8 p.m. on Friday, May 3, 2013, at Eeds Funeral Home. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at the First United Methodist Church, in Lockhart, Texas. Burial will follow at the Dale Memorial Cemetery, Dale, Texas. All arrangements will be with Eeds Funeral Home, 408 S. Main St., Lockhart, Texas 78644. (512) 398-2343.
