The Lockhart Lions’ campaign is over following a tough loss to Tivy.
The Lions needed to win their final three games and hope for help to make the playoffs, but Lockhart went 1-2 against tough district competition, finishing its season with a 9-11 overall record and a 4-10 district record
Tuesday’s 5-4 defeat against Tivy was a heartbreaker for the Lions, who lost the lead late.
The game was tied at four all with Tivy batting in the top of the sixth when Tivy scored a runner on a single.
Lockhart had jumped out to an early 2-1 lead, but Tivy answered to escape with the narrow win.
Prior to the Tivy loss, Lockhart squeaked out a 7-6 win against Medina Valley. The Lions built a six-run lead early in the game and then had to hold off a late offensive stand.
