CBS 42 spotlights L.H.S. Band on television

The Lockhart High School Roaring Lion Band was spotlighted on the KEYE Morning News on the CBS 42 station Tuesday morning, Nov. 1.
The band was selected to be a part of the Rudy”s Bar-B-Que Online Marching Band Challenge after getting a perfect score at the Regional band contest on Saturday, Oct. 22.

nd performed live on television.
“They are the hardest working band I”ve ever had,” Vickers said. “I am extremely pleased with the band members this year.”
With approximately 130 band members this year, the band received a one score at the U.I.L. contest. This was the sixth year in the past seven years for the band to receive the perfect score.
The band”s performance can be viewed online, and voted upon for the challenge. To enter votes, visit the Marching Band Challenge website at www.keyetv.com/mbc. The band with the most votes will receive $100 prize.

Band-O-Rama
Band-O-Rama will be this Friday night, Nov. 4, at the football game.
The sixth, seventh and eighth grade students have been practicing long and hard for this chance to show their talent along side the award-winning Lockhart Roaring Lion high school band. Each grade will perform a selection on the field before the game.
On Saturday, Oct. 22, band students from Lockhart Junior High attended district band auditions at Burnet Middle School in Austin. Andrew Bishop on trumpet and Sam Yanez on tenor trombone made district and will audition for region band on Saturday, Nov. 5, at Covington Middle School.
Other L.J.H. students who tried out at district were Alex Ramirez-Flute, Briana Ortiz-Percussion, Elora Chestnut-Flute, Melanie Salyers-Flute, Nick Johnson-Tenor Trombone, Nick Rojas-Horn, Seth Halley-Percussion, Sybil Staudt-Tuba, Victoria Espinoza-Flute, Carlos Anchondo-Clarinet, Cass Schnautz-Tenor Trombone, Chelsea Wilhelm-Clarinet, Kalyn Chamness-Clarinet, Kristen Perez-Flute, Kyle Placke-Alto Saxophone, Madison Martinez-Flute, Monica Parra-Flute, and Nolan Lockhart-Alto Saxophone.
