Lions vs. Canyon
After a rain-out in their first game against the Hays Rebels the JV Lions opened their district season at home against the Canyon Cougars on March 14. The Cougars proved to be too much for the Lions, pounding out 10 hits and nine runs to the Lions no hits and no runs. The Canyon pitcher had a good mix of pitches holding the Lions in check during the en

tire game. Dalton Dabbs was the pitcher of record and got the loss for the Lions.

Lions vs. Steele
Next, on March 17, the Lions traveled to Schertz Steele to face the Knights in the second district game of the season, and again failed to match up. Josh Flores was on the hill for the Lions and threw a good game. His curve ball was breaking and he placed the ball on the corners but the Knights’ bats made contact and put the ball everywhere on the field. Flores gave up 13 hits on 14 runs and had four strikeouts. At the plate, the Lions scored one run on four hits. Hitting for the Lions was Ryan Hitter, who went 2-3 and scored a run, Josh Flores (1-2) and Will Rodriguez (1-2).

Lions v. Clemens
The Lions were back in Schertz on March 20, but the outcome was a lot different. The Lockhart bats came alive in this game. They pounded out 11 hits and scored six runs to earn their first district win.
The offense was led by a host of players. Brandon Martinez led the way, going 2-2 with a double, one RBI and a run scored. Joseph Garcia went 3-4 with a double and one RBI; Ryan Hitter went 3-4 with one RBI, one run scored and two stolen bases. Cody James was 1-2 with a double and one run scored. Tyler Crawford went 1-1 with a double, George DeLeon scored one run and had a stolen base, and Erik Garcia had one stolen base.
The Lions played great defense, giving up only one error. On the mound for the JV was Ryan Hitter, who picked up the win, giving up six hits, two runs (one earned) and struck out three Buffaloes.

Lions v. Lehman
The Lions were on their home turf with the Lehman Lobos during their fourth District game. Lockhart had a great game on both sides of the field. The defense played flawless behind pitcher Dalton Dabbs, who gave up only three hits and one run, and had three strikeouts for the win.
The majority of the “Lion Nine” were involved with the 11-run, 15-hit attack on the Lobos.
Leading the way on offense was Dabbs, who went 3-3 with a double, one run scored and a stolen base. Right behind him were Paul Juarez (2-2 with two runs scored) and Samuel Yanez (2-2 with one RBI and one run scored). Brandon Martinez was 1-1 with a double, one RBI and one run scored. Tyler Crawford was 1-1, Cody James went 1-2 with a triple, Joseph Garcia was 1-2 with one RBI and one run scored, Erik Garcia went 2-4 with one RBI, two runs scored and one stolen base, and Ryan hitter was 2-3 with a double, one RBI, one run scored and one stolen base.
The Lions traveled to New Braunfels on Friday to face the New Braunfels Unicorns, but the game was halted at the bottom of the second inning due to rain. According to Coach James Patton, the teams will square off in a double header during the second round of district play.
The JV Lions will host the Hays Rebels on Friday, April 4.
