The Junior Varsity Lion and Lady Lion Tennis teams traveled to Kyle for the Hays Tennis Invitational on Thursday, March 27 and won big. The J.V. Lion and Lady Lion Tennis teams’ combined score earned a second place trophy, missing the first place spot by just five points.
The J.V. Lion doubles teams finished first and second

. After defeating all other teams, the two Lockhart J.V. teams found themselves in a fight for first place and bragging rights.
Throughout a final match that was both exciting and fiercely competitive, the two teams, Dylan Messerley with Tyler Tolley and Mark Hagan with Noah Tunningley, matched one another nearly shot for shot. However Messerley and Tolley finally wore their opponents down, emerging victorious at the end of a long day.
Most teams and individual players were competitive throughout the day. No one else from Lockhart made it to the finals but there were a few semi-finalist. Dakota Moering made it to the semi-final round in Girls’ Singles, Steven Gonzales made it to the semi-finals in Boys’ Singles while freshman Lady Lions Paige Griffith and Emily Lee made it to the semi-finals in Girls’ Doubles.
The second place team trophy is the first award the LHS team has won in a few years. Go Lions.
See you on the court.
