The Lockhart Lady Lion soccer team competed in the Centex Soccer Tournament at Killeen, Jan. 13-14.
Competing against 5A schools, and battling numerous injuries, the Lady Lions fought and competed hard every game.
The Lady Lions dropped the first game to San Antonio Taft, losing in a shootout 3-2. The Lions bounced back and defeated Killeen Ellison 2-0, behind a

solid defensive effort and two goals by Casey Stalbaum.
The Lady Lions lost to Leander 3-0 in game three, and lost to Georgetown 2-0. “Many of the young players on the team stepped up and played extremely well in place of injured starters,” Coach Timothy Bayliss said.
The Lady Lions opened district play on Tuesday, Jan. 17, at Lion Stadium against Marble Falls.
The visitors jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the first half, but the Lady Lions battled back in the second half.
They kept up constant offensive pressure in the final 40 minutes and the defense held the Marble Falls attack in check.
The Lady Lions picked up a goal off the foot of midfielder Brianna Hinnenkamp closing the deficit to 3-1, but were unable to find the net again.
The Lady Lions are 0-1 in district play, and their next home game will be Tuesday, Jan. 31, at Lion Stadium against Lehman. Game time is set for 6 p.m.
