Lady Lion softball fights for first place

The Lady Lion varsity softball team is currently tied for first place with the Elgin Lady Wildcats in the 26-4A District contest. Their record is 4-1 in district and they beat Elgin 4-3 in the district-opener game.
The Lady Lions had a victorious past week as they matched up against district foes.
On Thursday, March 24, the Lady Lions met the Taylo

r Lady Ducks on the field, and traveled to Pflugerville Connally High School on Tuesday, March 22, to play the Lady Cougars.
The Lady Lions won both games last week with a 4-0 victory against Pflugerville Connolly and a 6-4 win against Taylor.
Noelle Marquina had an awesome week at the plate with a total of 7 RBIs, a single, a double, and a triple.
Krystal Schulle and Yvette Alarcon also had triples. Whitney Wendt, Brittany Naumann, and Yvette Alarcon also had doubles.
Alyssa Gonzales, Bobbi Schulle, Noelle Marquina, Lee Smith, Whitney Wendt, Krystal Schulle, and Brittany Naumann all scored runs for the Lady Lions.
Whitney Wendt pitched two awesome games and struck out 10 batters.
The Lady Lions will start their second round of district play against Elgin Tuesday, April 5 at 7:30 p.m.

Junior Varsity
Lady Lions vs. Connally
On Tuesday, March 22, the Lady Lion JV softball team traveled to Pflugerville to take on the Lady Cougars from Connally.
The Lady Lions added another win to their record defeating the Cougars 12-2.
The winning pitcher was Adriana Parra throwing three complete innings, while giving up only two hits and striking out three batters.
Lockhart dominated at the plate with patience and consistency.
Big hits for the Lady Lions came from Jaimie Ruiz who was two for three with a double, an in the park homerun, and 2 RBI”s.
Camille Burrhus-Clay was also two for three with two singles and two RBIs.
Briana DeLeon and Amanda Oliva added stand up doubles, while Cameron Stanley and Parra each had a single.

Lady Lions vs. Taylor
The Lady Lion JV softball team put another tally in the win column last Thursday, March 24, as they “plucked” the Ducks from Taylor 11-4.
The winning pitcher was Naomi Olivia throwing 4 complete innings and giving up only 2 hits.
The Lady Lions scored one run in the second inning, seven runs in the third, and three runs in the fourth.
Offensively, the Lions were unstoppable as they strung hits together to put runs on the board.
Outstanding performances at the plate came from Adrianna Parra who went three for three with a double, Jaimie Ruiz who went two for three with a double, and Erika Levario who also went two for three.
Amanda Oliva ripped a double, while Annette McElroy-Ramirez and Brandi Alvarez added singles.
Awesome defensive hustle also came from Alvarez.
The Lady Lions are now 3-0 in district and 6-1 overall.
