The Lockhart Lions” varsity soccer team traveled to Seguin for a victorious match up against the Matadors, 3-2.
“It was an ugly win but a win,” Coach Robert Ardis said. “We are still having to play a lot of different players in positions they are unaccustomed to fill our many holes from injuries.”
The Lions” defense was strong in the first quarter, and didn”t al

low Segiun to score any points.
Scoring for the Lions was senior Nick Stevenson with one goal in the first half and two goals in the second half. Senior Luke Sergent assisted Stevenson with his first goal in the second half, and Stevenson third goal of the game came from a penalty kick.
“Stevenson”s first goal was one of his best this year, about a thirty-yard blast that the keeper did not even try to stop. Seguin was a gritty squad and the game became gradually more physical as we played on. We kept our composure and showed a lot of maturity by not retaliating when we were fouled. All in all it was not the prettiest game, but it was a step forward for us as we kept our cool,” Ardis said.
