The Lockhart varsity baseball team dropped two games last week, the first a 10-9 squeaker against Austin Crocket and the second a 13-4 drubbing at the hands of district leader Dripping Springs.
On Saturday at the Burger Center in Austin, Micah Franks hit a grand slam, his fifth of the

season, and David Schaefer hit a solo shot as the Lions came up just short to the 5A opponent.
The game ended with a chance for Lockhart to take the game, but a ground out with runners at the corners ended the Lions upset bid.
Clay Ohlendorf started the game, and took the loss while allowing seven runs in four innings. Cody Barnett came on in relief and allowed three runs in three innings.
In Tuesday nights game, the Lions just could not overcome an early onslaught of runs from Dripping Springs.
“They stuck it to us early, and just kept going,” said coach Robert Hitter. “We were hitting, but we just couldn’t get guys around.”
Mark Delgado started the game, and in three innings allowed 11 runs. Jacob Mendez came on to start the fourth inning, and managed to cool the Tiger bats, only allowing three runs in three innings.
At the plate, Franks and Schaefer both went 2-4 with an RBI each, and Andrew Gonzales went 2-3 and also drove in a run.
