60 apply for LISD superintendent
LPR Staff Report
Lockhart ISD Board President Brenda Spillmann said last week that the application window for the superintendent vacancy had closed and that the review process had begun.
The superintendent position became open in early April when Superintendent Susan Bohn announced she was a finalist for the same position in Aledo ISD, a community located west of Fort Worth. Bohn accepted the position later that month.
Her last day with Lockhart ISD is Monday, June 4.
Deputy Superintendent Kimberly Brents will lead the district in the interim.
“A total of 60 applications were submitted by the time the application period closed on Thursday, May 17,” Spillman said in a letter addressed to Lockhart ISD staff, parents and community members.
The board met later that week to discuss the applications in executive session. Interviews are expected to begin the first week of June. Follow-up interviews are scheduled to take place the third week of June, and a lone finalist is expected to be named on June 27.
A period of 21 days must pass before the board can vote to hire the new superintendent.
Spillman again thanked Bohn for her three years with the district.
“We are grateful for the leadership she has provided and her role in establishing a culture of high expectations for our Lions, our staff and the community,” Spillmann said. “We wish her and her family the very best in their next chapter.”
