Rest in heavenly peace our dearly beloved Victor Briceño.
Victor crossed over to Heaven peacefully, at the age of 54, while surrounded by his loved ones at sundown on Sept. 1, 2017.
He was born in Slaton, Texas, to Agustin and the late Mary Juarez Briceño, both from Lockhart, Texas.
Victor was a 1981 graduate from Lockhart High School. He met his soul mate, Nancy Gallegos in December of 1994; he swept her off her feet during a surprise blind date and the two love birds married in February 2001.
Victor was “Jack-of-All-Trades,” and master of many; he was talented and a hard worker during the sugar beet crop season in Dilworth, Minn. He worked at Kewaunee, WideLite, Lowe’s and enjoyed his most recent part-time employment at Victoria’s Secret, which gave him the opportunity to share many stories.
Victor loved God and others and he enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends; he was a jokester and the life of every party. He liked to travel, barbecue, bake delicious pastries, play bingo and was the best poker player and bluffer.
Victor enjoyed dancing and listening to Tejano music. He was a diehard Dallas Cowboy and San Antonio Spurs Fan. He laughed out loud and lived life to the fullest until God knocked on his door to invite him to enter the Heavenly Gates.
Victor is preceded in death by his beautiful mother, Mary Juarez Briceño.
He is survived by his loving wife of 23 years, Nancy; daughters: Jessica Briceño, Victoria (Manuel) Nuñez, Priscilla (Moses) Doria and Lisa (Rick) Espinoza; 12 grandchildren and three 3 great-grandchildren; his father, Agustin Briceño, Sr. (Mary); brothers: Benny (Graciela), Martin (Darlene), Johnny (Elaine) and Gus Briceño; sisters: Dolores (Ricky) Mendez, Rosie (Hector) Torres and Alma (David) Gonzales. He loved and left behind many nephews, nieces, uncles, aunts, cousins and friends.
A public visitation will be held on Thursday, Sept. 7, 2017, from 1 – 5 p.m. at Thomason Funeral Home. Recitation of the Rosary will be at 7 p.m. on Thursday at St. John’s Catholic Church, 624 E. Hopkins St., San Marcos, Texas, and Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled at 10 a.m. on Friday, Sept. 8, at St. John’s, with burial to follow at St. Mary’s Cemetery in Lockhart. After the burial, family and friends are invited to return to the Parish Hall of St. Mary’s of the Visitation Catholic Church, 215 W. Pecan, in Lockhart, for a fellowship and potluck luncheon.
Serving as pallbearers are: Benny, Martin, Johnny and Agustin Briceño, Jr.,; David Briceño and Rodger Mangum. Honorary Pallbearers are Angel Espinoza, Brandon and Daniel Cervantes, Diego Vargas, Moses Doria, Nathaniel Rocha and Ian Nuñez.
The Briceño and Gallegos family extend their gratitude to family, friends and co-workers for the love, prayers and the overwhelming generosity demonstrated in support of Victor’s courageous battle with cancer.
