William Peck Westmoreland, Jr.

William Peck Westmoreland Jr. passed away Saturday Dec. 18 at Doctor”s Regional Hospital in Corpus Christi, Texas. “Bubba” was a loving husband, father and grandfather. ter Southwest Texas he served as editor for the Texas State Teachers Association, producing “Texas Outlook” magazine. Peck then worked for the Bastrop and Lockhart Chambers of Commerce. He served as City Councilman for the City of Lockhart from 1995-1996, prior to moving to Beeville, Texas.

“Bubba” as he was so affectionately known was born on Jan. 25, 1942 in Olney, Texas to Martha Alice Gray and William Peck Westmoreland Sr. He is the oldest of four siblings. Peck married Andrea Kaye Watkins on Aug. 19, 1972 in Burnet, Texas.

His wife, Andrea, and his two sons, Charles and wife Jamie, Bobby and wife Darci and their two sons Kolbe and Keegan, survive him. Peck”s siblings include Gray and wife Brenda Westmoreland, Lynn and Gene Majors, and Brad and wife Jackie Westmoreland. Extended family includes several nieces and nephews.

Peck touched the lives of everyone that he met. Whether it was a total stranger or a life-long friend, he always left a smile on their face. For anyone wanting to know what was truly going on in Lockhart, Peck was the man to go to. He gave much more than he could have ever received, his kindness and generosity will be truly missed. His warm smile and huge heart meant so much to the citizens of Lockhart.
