Pedro C. Gonzales was called to rest on Jan. 23, 2015. He passed away peacefully at home, surrounded with his family at his side.

Pedro is survived by his wife of 49 years, Refugia; son, Andy Gonzales (Kamila); daughters, Dora Cardenas (Andy), Ester Holicky (Richard) and Rebecca Silva (Thomas); 10 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is also survived by his brother, Ju

an Gonazales, and sisters, Tana Vargas and Teresa Trevino, as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

After losing his parents at an early age, he took on the responsibility of raising his younger siblings. At a young age, he worked as a migrant worker, until the birth of his son. Then, he was employed by Glastron Boats for 10 years. He retired after 16 years of service to the Lockhart Independent School District.

He was a longtime Texas Ranger baseball fan, and was also a fan of the Dallas Cowboys, through the good and bad times. He enjoyed watching Western movies like “The Good, the Bad and the Ugly.” He enjoyed watching boxing, and boxed at an early age. He also loved telling jokes, and always had people laughing.

Funeral services were held at DeLeon Funeral Home. The Rosary was recited on Monday, Jan. 26, at 7 p.m. Funeral Mass was at St. Mary’s of the Visitation Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 27, with burial following at St. Mary’s Cemetery.

Honored to serve as pallbearers were Frank Vargas, Gilbert Vargas, Roy Vargas, Michael Verduzco, Joe Anthony Cardenas and Adrian Gonzales. Honorary pallbearers were Frankie Tamayo and David Vargas.

He is going to be greatly missed by his family and his grandchildren, who he loved to make laugh, and his friends, who he always told jokes.

Daddy, we will miss you and wish you a peaceful birthday.
