Daniel Minjarez
Daniel Minjarez, 74, passed away Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2014. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather and friend. He was born Aug. 17, 1940 in San Antonio to Santos and Maria Minjarez. After serving in the Army for eight years, Dan worked his way up from a host at the Tower of Americas in San Antonio to Division Manager of Jim’s Restaurants in Austin. In 2005, he began a sec
ond career as a systems analyst for the Texas Department of Insurance, where he worked until his death.
Dan is survived by his wife of 24 years, Renee Minjarez; sons, Daniel Minjarez, Jr., Thomas Dougherty and Sean Powell; daughters, Sylvia Crum, Robin Adnson and Lisa Hoyt; and grandchildren, John Lyon, Austin Brown, Dustin Schulze, Sabrina and Sean Powell, Jr., Emily and Kendall Dougherty, and Alice and Teddy Hoyt.
He will be remembered for his love for his family, thirst for knowledge, kind spirit and his positive outlook on life. To be in his presence was to feel joyful and treasured, and that is his legacy.
Dan served as a coach to the Special Olympics bowling team while his best friend and brother-in-law, Jim Roberson, bowled. Memorial contributions may be made to the Special Olympics.
Visitation was held on Thursday, Feb. 5 from 4 – 6pm at McCurdy Funeral Home on 105 E. Pecan St. Funeral services will be held at McCurdy Funeral Home at 10 a.m. on Friday, Feb. 6, with grave services following.
