Rebecca Vignali
Rebecca Lee Vignali, a precious young woman who had her entire life before her, peacefully passed through the Gates of Heaven on Feb. 2, 2016 just shy of her nineteenth birthday.
She had been attending Texas A&M at College Station as a full time student pursuing a degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Science, which was her lifelong dream.
She loved God’s creation and ap
preciated all living creatures. Her whole life has been dedicated to the love and care of animals big and small, on her family ranch and through her local 4-H chapter. She raised and showed a variety of animals including horses, goats, poultry, pigs and rabbits.
Rebecca was a wonderful influence on her friends, inviting them to church and sharing her strong faith. She was an active member of First Lockhart Baptist Church where she served and assisted in the AWANA’s ministry and Vacation Bible School.
Many local and county organizations were the recipients of over 6,000 community service volunteer hours honorably and freely offered by Rebecca.
There was also a creative side to Rebecca, where she became a talented artist, musician, and photographer. She loved anything creative or dramatic and entered her products in 4-H competition at the local, county, and state levels.
Serving in the AFJROTC all four years of high school and achieving the rank of Cadet Major was an outstanding accomplishment for Rebecca. Her leadership, love for her country, and discipline were greatly appreciated. She received a scholarship from the Austin Chapter of Military Officer’s Association of America.
Throughout her short life, Rebecca made a real difference and was honored with numerous awards and recognition including the prestigious Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo Scholarship. She also received the prominent achievement of the 4-H Gold Star Award for Caldwell County in 2014.
To know Rebecca was to love this exuberant, spirited, quirky, and full of life young lady who had a heart of gold, who truly cared about everyone and life in general.
Her parents, Carl and Nancy Vignali, encourage you to continue her legacy of community service. May each of you walk away feeling inspired to promote wildlife conservation and sustaining God’s wonderful creation.
Rebecca leaves her loved ones to cherish her precious memories: father and mother, Carl and Nancy Vignali, of Lockhart; grandmothers, Helon McFarlen, of Del Rio, and Virginia Vignali, of Tampa, Fla.; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins on both sides of the family.
Rebecca was preceded in death by her grandfathers, George W. McFarlen and Carl L. Vignali; her great-grandfather and great-grandmother, Renfroe and Elma Richardson; and her god-mother Nakai Breen.

Visitation was held at McCurdy Funeral Home in Lockhart, on Friday, Feb. 5, 2016, from 5-8 p.m. Funeral services were held at First Lockhart Baptist Church on Saturday, Feb. 6, 2016 at 1 p.m. with graveside service following.
